Hey Steemians!! It's Saturday and for all you Chocoholics, as promised, I give you...CHOCOLATE!!

Not only chocolate, but chocolate wrapped in festive marvelousness!!

So tell me, what do you think about egg nog?

Are you ready for the holidays? I can't believe it's already here. I have spent months planning and preparing and it snuck up on me, like a thief in the night.

So, tell me, what do you traditionally eat for Christmas dinner? Here in my family, in the past many years, we have decided to do finger foods on Christmas day. This way, no one is in the kitchen cooking and cleaning all day. I don't remember how many years we have been doing this, but at least 5 or 6. These scones are a perfect fit for this.

So, along side the obligatory fudge, we have scones.

Scones are great because they stay fresh for a few days. If you ever need to make something a day or two in advance for a party or get together, scones should be on the list.

RECIPE

Ingredients

4 1/4 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teasspoons nutmeg
1 cup butter, ice cold and cut into cubes
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 cup eggnog
1 cup good quality semi- sweet dark chocolate, roughly chopped
For the glaze:
3 tablespoons eggnog
1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 C) and combine dry ingredients in the bowl of food processor. Add butter and pulse until crumbly. Add egg, vanilla, and eggnog and pulse until evenly mixed.
  2. Turn out dough onto lightly floured surface and divide in half. Spread each half into a disc roughly 1 1/2 inches tall. Cut with a sharp knife into 8 triangles.
  3. Place a few inches apart on greased or nonstick pan.
  4. Bake for 12 - 15 minutes or until edges start to brown. Remove from oven and cool.
  5. Whisk eggnog and powdered sugar in a small bowl until smooth.
  6. When scones are completely cool, drizzle glaze and let dry for 30 minutes to 1 hour until glaze is set.
