"It's beer time!" at Mcnellie's in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma
If you're ever traveling through Tulsa, Oklahoma and need a calm, relaxed place to chat over a surprisingly perfect selection of beers, I would highly suggest Mcnellie's pub downtown (not to be confused with the one in south Tulsa).
Let's get into the beer for starters! Mcnellie's offers a perfect escape from the typical bar or suburban restaurant vibe in Tulsa, whether you are with a party of friends or simply visiting alone to relax over a couple of beers. The beer choices are virtually endless, with over 350 different beers on menu accompanied by 50+ on tap, which is followed by a surprisingly eclectic array of wines, liquors, and locally brewed drinks. The spirits menu is conveniently categorized by origin of the spirits, also displaying their alcohol content to allow searching for the perfect, new beer as easy as possible for you. Although a selection of flights are offered to venture into new territory, their friendly staff will serve you a sample of a beer of your choice for free upon request.
If you're hungry, but on a budget, i'd highly suggest their $4 burger night. Generally priced at $10, this is a pairing of a mouth-watering burger and your choice of steak-cut or sweet potato fries that will definitely give you your money's worth. The trick is arriving roughly around 8:30-9 pm to assure faster service because this "too good to be true" deal has become popular among the locals. Fortunately, kitchen stays open relatively late, allowing the night owls to grab a bite in time as well.
This is also the ideal starting point for a night of barhopping or visiting the art crawl on every first Friday. It's surrounded by my favorite dive bars in the city, all having a very unique aura to appeal to everyone.
