Today's Sustainable Feast in the Garden of Eden

It is another incredible day in the Garden of Eden, and we are giving thanks for more than enough of everything in this abundant life of freedom!  


We made a delicious feast for our volunteers today, cooking over fire on our rocket stoves in our sustainable outdoor kitchen! As usual, there was more than enough food for everyone, and we are happy to share our abundance with you.

Today we made a big feast with burgers and lots and lots of fixins! 



We started with our daily garden salad, and what a gorgeous rainbow of health it was! Look at those bright, beautiful, vibrant colors - you can already see that there are all kinds of vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients! This dose of delicious wellness had a base of mixed greens, carrots, snow peas, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, red onions, and pickled beets, and as always each person was free to customize their own serving with our extensive selection of seeds, nuts, dried fruits, cheeses, crunchy things like croutons, homemade vinegars, oils, and dressing! 



Next, we made a big hot pot of quinoa and stirred in some onions for extra flavor. Quinoa is a nice grain substitute; it is actually a seed and is very high in protein! 



For another side, we sautéed sliced mushrooms with peppers and onions. Mushrooms are a great food year round, but especially in the wintertime. The high levels of vitamin D help keep the blues away that some people experience as the seasons change and there are lower levels of sunlight throughout the day. 



As a main dish for our vegetarians, we offered a large platter of farm fresh fried eggs. These are of course delicious on their own, but they also make excellent sandwiches, and are even nice on top of a burger! 



For our meat eaters, we prepared a big platter of meats with bacon and turkey burgers. 



We added grilled jalapeño peppers stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in more bacon to our meat platter. 



We caramelized a pan of onions until they were a rich and tasty golden brown. They get sweet as they cook, and it's a nice touch to add on a burger, salad, or fried egg sandwich.



For a little variety and because we had so many of them, we also sliced up raw onions to offer on our dinner table. 



We spread out some sliced cheddar cheese, a classic burger topping. Cheese is yummy on fried egg sandwiches too! 



As a sauce, we made one of our favorite, easy little blends. This is simply chopped garlic in olive oil with herbs and salt! The longer it sets, the better it tastes...but this yummy sauce doesn't last very long around here! 



We set a bowl of our homemade kimchi with beets on the table for people to dank up their dishes. Fermented foods like this not only taste great, but are also superb for health because they introduce all kinds of beneficial microorganisms to the gut flora! 



Last but not least, we had a big bowl of creamy, delicious guacamole with lots of garlic, lime juice, cilantro, and tomatoes for dolloping on salads, burgers, and sandwiches!



It was an excellent meal with plenty of components for full on customization. Everyone here is welcome to have as much or as little of a particular dish as they like, and they can dress each dish to their exact tastes!

Yes there is no reason to trade tasty food for healthy food when you can have both! And even better than delicious, healthy food is delicious, healthy, SUSTAINABLE food!!

That is quite a feast. I love quinoa...the flavor and texture, The turkey bacon burgers look great!

We like quinoa too. It's great to have a burger spread like this, because everyone can have exactly what they want! Even if all they want is quinoa :)
