Today's Sustainable Feast in the Garden of Eden
It is another great day in the Garden of Eden, and we are giving thanks for more than enough of everything in this abundant life of freedom!
We made a delicious feast for our volunteers and special guests today, and because we have below freezing weather we prepared the food indoors on our wood burning stove rather than on the rocket stoves of our sustainable outdoor kitchen! We stayed nice and toasty, had a fantastic meal, AND heated water for showers for super sustainable efficiency. As usual, there was more than enough food for everyone, and we are happy to share our abundance with you!
Today we made a simple but flavorful feast!
We started the meal with a beautiful garden green salad with cucumbers, beets, peppers, broccoli, and sliced almonds with a tasty, tangy vinaigrette to get lots of fresh vitamins and minerals.
Each person could dress their own salad with anything extra they wanted to enjoy today. This serving has extra sunflower seeds and a splash of homemade mango vinegar!
We made a big, colorful bowl of stir fried onions, yellow, red and green bell peppers, broccoli and cauliflower with garlic and ginger, topped with sesame seeds for even more delicious vitamins and minerals!
We served it with a large pot of steamed brown rice with a chopped onion thrown in for extra flavor.
For our meat eaters, we made teriyaki chicken breast strips with sesame ginger sauce.
We served delicious sauces on the side for anyone who wanted a little extra flavor. This is our selection of spicy Thai peanut, chili garlic, and raw garlic in oil.
With dishes like this, everyone can serve themselves exactly how much they want of any element! For this serving, we used a base of brown rice piled up with stir fried veggies and teriyaki chicken.
With a wonderful raw salad on the side, it was a perfectly satisfying, healthful feast!
Food is important, and we hope to inspire people to really take time to eat, enjoy it, and share it with someone you love. We also hope to inspire more and more sustainable practices in regards to food!
