Today's Sustainable Feast in the Garden of Eden
It's another awesome day at the Garden of Eden, thus it's time for another awesome feast!
We have an abundance of delicious, nutritious food! Our inhabitants have a spectrum of food preferences; we have vegetarians, vegans, and carnivores living here, and there's always enough food for ALL.
Today's epic, sustainable meal has a little something for everyone.
We made sausages with basil mustard, mashed potatoes, sautéed veggies, and garlicky raw cabbage slaw.
Veggie prep included slicing mushrooms, onions, and peppers. So many fresh, yummy phytonutrients!!!
Then we cooked them over raw, hot fire.
Oh yes, just look at that sexy fire!! We built these stoves by hand from dirt, and we burn fence panels that were otherwise destined for the landfill as fuel.
The fence panel feeds in through the chamber, creating a nice hot flame for the "burner" portion for our cast iron skillet.
@quinneaker demonstrates how to light a fire in one of our handmade, earthen rocket stoves in this video:
That earthen rocket stove looks amazing....I've got to try my hand at that one.
You totally should!
I posted a few vids on how to make them!
Righteous....I'm going to find a prime location for it and then study your videos. Thank You.
Awesome!
Be sure to let me know if you have any questions and when its done!
I'll be in touch...thank you.
Awesome!
Excited about it.
Another day.....Another feast!
One can always count on an abundance of food at the GOE! Thanks for sharing so generously with all, Quinn!
Yea!!!!!
That oven is the shit.
It really is!
That's the truth!
I personally liked the fourth picture, it reminded me of my hometown.
My aunt makes her curries in hearth. and damn it comes out so delicious.
Another reason to like the pics is because you used mushrooms. i just love mushrooms. i am a vegan, don't have much options left if you are a vegan :) :)
thumps up .. love ur work..
Thank you, @ggabru.swagg! Where are you from?
I am from India the land of spices :) :)
Aaahhh, beautiful country! Our Indian friends love to come over to cook in our outdoor kitchen because they say that it reminds them of home as well :)
It's so common in much of the world, but it's totally revolutionary here in the US.
it must definitely remind them of their hometown as well because in India food at the most named restaurants is also cooked in hearth.
Mushrooms aren't vegan, I'm afraid.
Mushrooms are not vegetables, is the thing, although they aren't animals either. They're another class of living being, in the evolutionary sense. They're more closely related to animals than plants, and it's proven by the appearance and structure of their cells.
All living beings have a will-to-live, so be thoughtful about ending the lives of those unwilling to die.
OMG i am really hungryyyyyyy it looks soooo deliciousss
So so so delicious!!!
damn rattss are running in my tummyyy now :P
It looks delicious. Thanks for showing how it was made. Love the homemade grill too. I bet everyone loved it.
You're welcome, @beccadeals! Meals around here are always a big hit :)
There are so many reasons sharing a meal is valuable, including that it keeps morale high when there is physical labor to be done - and there's always plenty of stuff to do in our ecovillage !
Looks amazing! Thank you once again for an inspiring post @gardenofeden!
