Bored of your classic toast?

Here in Romania, this recipe is very popular and loved by everyone, as far as I know. It’s called “fasole batuta” and it’s like a hummus of white beans, with some topping made of tomatoes sauce and onion. A lot of onion!

So, it you are bored of your classic toast, try this!

Ingredients
500 g beans canned
Olive oil
Salt and pepper
Garlic crushed

For topping
3-4 onions chopped
50–70 g tomato sauce
Salt and pepper
Olive oil

My grandmother used to cook it with sunflower oil, but olive oil works perfectly here.

1. I wanted to skip the boiling step so I used cans of beans.
2. Using a vertical mixer, blend beans, garlic, olive oil. Season it.
3. In a frying pan, add olive oil and onion. Cook it until onion is soft. Add the tomato sauce. Cook for another 10 minutes stirring continuously.
4. Let the topping cool.
5. When it’s ready, take a slice of your favorite bread (sourdough is the best) and top it.

Have it with some raw onion!
