A Witch in the Kitchen: "Impossible Cake"

Hello My Dear Little Witches...!





Today I will share with you a recipe I made for my mother some time ago, a Choco Flan or Impossible Cake , which here in my land is also called Torta Quesillo, and well with that we were both pleased (she wanted cheese and I wanted to eat brownie), and my guests of honor, my aunts and grandmothers who are the spouses of My Mathias, each one with a particularity that defines them, one for her magical gifts and her joy, another for her friendship and constant support, and the other with her gentle character, are three little witches that I only hope God will give me a lot of life to enjoy them, just like my Beautiful Mother.

In order to speak of each one of them, I would take at least a complete series of post, but as what I have come to show you is the beauty and delight of dessert that I prepare, I will stop talking so much and then I will show you how to make this magical dessert. Enjoy .



Ingredients


For Chocolate Cake
  • 200 gr of Wheat Flour
  • 6 Tbsps of Cocoa without Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Sodium Bicarbonate
  • 1 Egg
  • 150 gr of Butter
  • 190 gr of Sugar
  • 1 Cup of Whole Milk
  • 1/4 cup of espresso

  • For Flan or Quesillo
    • 600 ml Whole Milk
    • 1 Can of Condensed Milk
    • 4 Eggs
    • Scratch of 1 Lemon
    • 1 Tbsp Vanilla Extract


    Preparation



    • Difficulty level: Medium
    • Preparation Time: 20 Minutes
    • Baking time: 100 Minutes
    • Time Total: 120 Minutes
    • Yield: 16 Portions


    I tell you that this type of cake is very simple to make, although its name indicates something else, to begin with its preparation we must place in the mold that we will use, 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/4 of water, to make the caramel, I use moscabado and refined sugar 50/50, I like the color and texture that obtains the caramel with this mixture.

    With the caramel ready, we prepare the cake, starting to mix the sugar with butter, until blanching this mixture, then add the egg, continue beating to integrate well, and add half the whole milk.



    We continue adding half of the dry ingredients, which we have previously sifted to better unify them, I remind you, they are: Wheat flour, sodium bicarbonate, baking powder and cocoa, incorporate well and add the other part of the milk and the rest of the dry ingredients, and finally add the coffee, mix well to integrate, without whipping more.



    Once the mixture is ready for our cake, we proceed to prepare the flan or quesillo, for which we will use a blender, and add the whole milk, the 4 eggs and the grated lemon rind.



    We continue to add the contents of the can of condensed milk and vanilla, process everything in the blender, and are ready to assemble our Impossible Cake.



    In the mold where we previously prepared the caramel, we proceed to add the mixture of the cake, then with the help of a spoon we slowly add the contents of the flan mixture, cover and place in a tray to which we add hot water, in the middle of the mold, to take it to a preheated oven at 180 ° C for 90 minutes.



    After 90 minutes at the moment of uncovering we will realize the magic that happens in our cake. The flan or quesillo has come down giving its place to the cake, but what kind of witchcraft is this, is the one that each one of us do in the kitchen, now we just have to let cool, to demould and Voilá!, Ready our Delicious Impossible Cake , which is so easy to do that it surprises. Isn't that right?.
