Little Caesars Secures Patent For Pizza-Making Robot

in #food7 years ago

A growing number of pizza companies are looking to revamp their process, with new technology like self-driving vehicles and pizza-making robots.

Little Caesars' recently secured their own patent for a pizza-making robot themselves. From sauce to toppings, the robot is going to become a critical part of the pizza process. Even though they might have secured their patent however, the company hasn't announced any plans to introduce the robot into the pizza line just yet.

The robot has been described as a tool that will only help to alleviate some of the labor-intensive work that the pizza-workers are required to do now, hopefully helping to improve overall efficiency and boost the customer experience.

Little Caesars isn't the only pizza company to move in this direction either.

Domino's has also experimented with delivering via drones and delivery robots, Pizza Hut has envisioned an autonomous pizza delivery vehicle, and Zume Pizza in San Francisco is also looking to have their pizza process fully automated.

And the pizza market isn't the only area in the food industry that we are going to see more automation take place, self-driving and drone deliveries, and robots like this one introduced etc.

Other businesses like McDonald's and CaliBurger are already well on their way. A growing number of retailers, restaurants, and other businesses, are looking to ride the bot wave as well, and introduce robots into their process. But will the market be eager to support the transition?

For those who don't want to eat at an establishment that has a robot make their food or wait on them, they have thousands of other options in the market for a place to go. And ultimately, it will be the people who decide whether or not initiatives like the Little Caesars pizza-making robot fail or succeed; by choosing to spend their money with that establishment or not.

For some restaurants who have made the move to introduce robots, they say that it has improved customer experience because it frees up more time for the serves to spend on those clients. Rather than having them cart back and forth, doing tedious tasks that the robot can now do for them. A great deal of companies have said that they don't have any plans to fully replace human servers and workers at their establishments by moving to embrace this sort of technology, they have said it's supposed to compliment and simply improve the process.

If the experience of going to the restaurant or retailer is improved overall in the way of efficiency (getting the right thing, getting your food quickly etc), then it's likely that it's a change many consumers will support. Whether it's pouring coffee in Japan, or serving drinks in Vegas, we can already see robots at work in a myriad of settings. And many folks have already expressed their discontent with seeing various businesses move in this direction, that's why it's important to remember that when you spend money in the market that you're voting with your dollars.

There have also been a few humorous stories that have come out about the robots failing, falling into ponds, or needing to take a break after being overwhelmed with work. For some of them, they've still got a long ways to go in delivering the expected boost of efficiency that so many anticipate we would see with their arrival.

Soon "hand made pizza" will be something you have to pay extra for.

Somebody should've implemented this yesterday before I invaded the local Little Caesar's, maybe the robot would've spread out the cheese a little more evenly 😂

I can't wait until this type of automation becomes widely utilized in many different industries. Humans are capable of so much more than being delivery machines, and all that capacity is being wasted on such tasks.

"Robot, robot"

:-)

One improvement the pizza chains can make is to use delivery robots that have self-contained warming ovens. I can't tell you how many times my dad has complained about a delivered pizza not being warm enough.

But then again, I've read that the robots have had trouble in rough areas.

wow that's wild!! but i guess bound to happen. just read an interview with Elon Musk saying he's seen the latest cutting edge bots and he's afraid for the future with them! don't want to make bots that are smarter than humans lol!

This is crazy to think 20 years ago this was just movie-myths and now it is literally on our doorsteps! Good post @doitvoluntarily
