Ulog #78: 'Mamak' Fried Rice with Fried Chicken

Fried rice has got to be another South East Asian favorite and it's no stranger to those of us here in Malaysia. From all cultures it seems fried rice is a mashup of it all with which we have a delicious plate of food.

There are lots of varities to fried rice and I think for homecooks, fried rice is basically using whatever that was left over from the day before and tossing it together in a wok.

Here's one of my favorite fried rice dish which is thankfully nearby the neighbourhood so whenever I crave for a plate of this, I can just easily get it.

You can get this fried rice at 'mamak' shops around town but this one has got to be my favorite.

It has fried chicken cut up into chunks and fried with birds eye chili, onions, garlic, eggs and some cabbage.

There are variations to this dish which is basically the change of protein. Instead of chicken, another popular pick for most is mutton. So if you fancy something else than the humble chicken, you can go for the fatty and more expensive mutton fried rice.

You can also get your favorite chicken part with this fried rice. I normally love it with the wing but in the picture above, they came with a wrong order of giving me the drumstick instead. Oh well, still it had so much flavor and was really tasty.
