Chef Life Magazine Issue #63: Golden Teriyaki Beef - The Emperor
One of my favorite burgers at my own burger outlet is this beast of a burger, the Emperor. It's a teriyaki salthered beef patty served with a fried egg and fried tempura peppers and onions with a slice of American cheese.
I know it's gonna sound odd but all of the above is paired with a creamy coleslaw at the bottom layer of the burger. It gives a dimension of creaminess and tanginess to the burger which you'll find surprising.
With that, the burger has all the elements you want in a burger... balance!
The teriyaki sauce, tempura peppers and onions, gives the burger it's needed umami and sweetness. The egg gives it a lusciousness and the coleslaw adds the balance to all this with it tanginess and creaminess. It really makes a well balanced burger.
Sometimes the most odd of combinations makes for an interesting discovery and flavor wonderland. Always gives things a try and who knows you might have well invented a new favorite.
