Makki Ke Dhokle (Steamed Savory Corn Cake) Traditional Indian meal
Makki ke dhokle is a traditional Indian (Rajasthani) meal used to eat in winter season. It is very healthy as it is steamed and no oil used to make it.
It is made of corn flour spices and seasonal fresh green peas. It is generally eaten with daal(Cooked Split Black gram).
Here I am sharing recipe with some photographs.
Ingredients required
Corn flour about 1 kg
Fresh green peas 1/4 cup
Fresh garlic 3-4
Coriander leaves chopped 2 tbsp
Green chili 2 pc
Papad Khar ( An Alkaline Salt with major components as Sodium carbonate and Sodium bicarbonate) 1tsp
Salt to taste
Take flour and mix all above ingredients. To make dough take hot water and kneed to make smooth dough.
Make round shaped cake with a hole in the center.
Put all in a steam cooker
Cook on medium flame for about 30 minutes
To make daal we required
Split Black gram 3/4 cup
Garlic (I used fresh garlic) 3-4
Green chili 2 chopped
Curry leaves 1 stem
Tomato 1 medium chopped
Cumin and mustard seeds 1/2 tsp each
Asafoetida a pinch
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder 1 tsp
Garam masala 1/2 tsp
Vegetable oil for stir fry 1tbsp
Lemon juice 1 tbsp (Juice of 1 lemon)
Salt to taste
Sugar 1/2 tsp to balance the taste
Fresh ingredients
Boiled Split Black gram and chopped ingredients
Boil Split Black gram
Chop all fresh ingredients
Heat oil in heavy bottom pan
Add all dry spices and stir for a minute on medium flame
Add fresh chopped ingredients and mix well.
Cook for couple of minutes
Add boiled split black gram and water
Bring it to a boil
Simmer for couple of minutes.
Add lemon juice
Your Daal is ready to serve.
Serve hot with Dhoklas

Nice recipe it's like south Indian vada.
Vadas are deep fried while this is steamed.
