A DIRTY Steak - Watch this video and check me braai steak directly in the coals!
This episode of BraaiBoy TV isn't so much about a recipe, but rather a technique... This one is all about the "Dirty Steak"!
Done correctly, there is nothing "dirty" about this steak!
Despite the name, a dirty steak isn't really all that dirty. When cooking a steak directly on the coals, one would imagine that your steak will be covered in ash and coal. This is not the case at all. Yes, the odd coal does stick to the steak, but it's easily brushed off with your tongs.

That looks so good and you're right, if we didn't eat meat, we'd not have become who we are today.
Yeah... I often have this argument with vegetarians and vegans.
I've got the odd vegetarian friend or two, just like everyone else... and they're good people too. It's just that they're unfortunately wrong about this point :-)

The olive oil is entirely optional... There is a tiny amount of ash on the steak after it comes out of the coals, and this is just to brush it away. I never do this when I make a steak like this for myself... I just did it in the video to demonstrate that it is an option.
