In my new series 'Gourmet' I would like to share anything linked to experiencing real good food and drinks (e.g. restaurants, bars, markets) with you.

Rob The Gourmets' Market (known as simply 'Rob') is an ultimate gourmet store, my favourite supermarket in Belgium.. well maybe in Europe.

I'm sure almost all the high-quality-food-enthusiasts in Belgium know about Rob and love this place. It is the best place to shop because of their incredible selection of quality products as well as the service by their experienced staff who help you. I heard many professional chefs are also going there and checking the selection they are offering.

Once you go in, it is a quality product world. All the items on the shelves are superbly well selected/curated, and just looking around is a joy, discovering something new for your food/cooking experience... such as interesting spices, soup bouillon you have never seen etc... The whole store is filled with top level products ranging from quality fresh vegetables to top Iberico, Japanese Wagyu Beef, French butter, cheese, Belgian top brand chocolates..... you name it.

Here are the pics from their cake section - you know the Belgian take their PÂTISSERIE seriously.

I must emphasise their bakery section.... their original freshly baked French baguette in their BOULANGERIE section is the killer. It is by far the best baguette I have ever eaten, and I can eat the whole 70cm or so in one go! It is crispy outside and inside has such a rich flavor. If you go there and are lucky with the timing, they are often still warm.... it is heavenly.

If you're ever near there, I'd highly recommend to call in, and if you're enthusiastic about real good food, I can guarantee you would love this place. Don't forget to grab a baguette or two along with one of their specially selected excellent French butters.
