Green Smoothie of The Day: Almond Berry Morning Bliss ღ ღ ღ

A superfood meal in a green/pink smoothie package. This simple smoothie recipe is vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free and suitable for anyone on a mission to improve their health. Add a little raw cacao powder and the kids will love it too.

Are you a smoothie addict too? If not try them for an entire week and I'm sure we'll get you hooked. Though research says it takes 21 days to turn something into a habit, these green drinks are so yum and energizing that a week is all you need to get addicted to them.

They are by far the easiest breakfast to make. If you have busy, hectic mornings, spend 20 minutes during the weekend to make green smoothie freezer bags. Cut and add all ingredients (except the liquid base and toppings) to a zip lock bag and freeze. In the morning take out the bag and blend. Not only will you have a fresh and yummy breakfast, freezing the ingredients will make it a cold drink too.

Ingredients

2 cups fresh spinach
2 cups almond milk, unsweetened
1 cup strawberries
1 cup blueberries
1 banana, chunked and frozen for extra creaminess
2 tbsps extra virgin coconut oil
Hemp hearts (topping)

Directions

  1. Blend almond milk and spinach until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and blend again. If the smoothie is too thick add more almond milk or water. If you have a high-speed blender you can throw in everything at once.
  2. Optional: Top with hemp hearts or other superfoods if you like (optional).

Looks great! Quick question...do you ever add some kind of protein powder for a little boost, or do you not recommend that?

I never add protein powder. We try to avoid all processed foods. Usually, it is a misconception that people don't get enough protein. Every plant has protein and protein deficiencies are very rare. Even among vegans. Thanks for your comment @pbgreenpoint.
