Who needs a new calendar for a new year? 新年需要新日历吗？

Old Style Calendar | 老式日历

Some of the older folks I know still want a old style calendar. Something physical rather than the calendar on the mobile phone or in the cloud. Let’s have a look at a couple of calendars that some have to get at home.

认识的前辈中有人还是觉得需要个个老式的日历。一个手摸得到的而不是在手机或云端上的。让我们来看看两个老式日历，我们必须得在家里。

Month View | 一页一月

This calendar was produced by a long time biscuit company in Singapore. Of course, they need to advertise themselves on the first page.

这日历是新加坡的一间饼干厂印的。当然，第一页打个广告是必须的。

Let’s start the new year for this calendar.

又是新的一年。

On the calendar, each square represents one day of the month. In the square, there are also day of the lunar, muslim and hindu calendars.

在日历上，每个格子代表这个月的一天。格子代表了农历，回教日历和印度教日历。

Some just must have this to strike of the the square day by day.

有些人总要一天一天把一格一格划掉。

Day View | 一页一日

This calendar costs a few Singapore dollars. The first page shows the Fulushou deities who represents prosperity, status and longevity.

这个日历价格三新元。第一页是大家该见过的福禄寿。

Let’s start the new year for this calendar.

又是新的一年。

Each page represents one day of the month. In each page, there are also day of the lunar, muslim and hindu calendar but it’s more complicated than that.There are more information related to the Chinese study of fengshui which includes thing that is suitable to be done in this day which in this case is repairing a wall, things that are not suitable to be done on this day which in this case are starting a business and moving the earth (like renovation work for example). There are other information like which hours are good or bad in the day and the zodiac sign with which the day clashes which in this case the day is a day of the rat and clashes with the horse. Another interesting information is the auspicious directions where the auspicious gods are located, e.g., god of happiness and god of wealth.

每一页代表着一天。在每一个页面，有农历，回教日历和印度教日历的一天但它还有较复杂的如玄学或风水学有关的质询例如那天宜做什么和忌做什么。其他的有每日的吉时和凶时和当天跟那一生肖相冲。还有当日喜神和财神在和方向。

Dog Doesn’t Care since 1855 | 狗不理自1855年

Now that we are ready for the new year, we can get some dinner. We went to Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.In there is a restaurant Goubuli which literally translate “Dog Doesn’t Care”

准备好新的一年就出去吃个开年餐吧。我们到了滨海湾金沙（新加坡）去。里面有家“狗不理”餐馆。

Outside, this sign tells you the history and why it’s called “Dog Doesn’t care”.

外面有这招牌告诉你”狗不理“的历史。

In the menu, another chance to read about the history of “Dog Doesn’t Care”.

在菜单上，还有多次机会看看”狗不理“的历史。

We have a pot of chrysanthemum tea before what to eat.

点菜前，要了一壶菊花茶。

Place the order. Now we wait.

点了菜就要等。

This vegetables dish comprise mainly of Chinese yam, asparagus and black fungus. It tasted OK but some bits were bit more salty than other.

这盘菜主要是山药，芦笋和黑木耳。味道还可以但有部分比较咸。

Does this look like a butterfly on a flower?

这看起来像蝴蝶在花上吗？

The fried rice came next and it was quite good.

下一道菜是扬州炒饭。还算美味。

Like every grain of rice was covered with egg.

每粒米饭都包容在蛋里。

Goubuli Buns are here. They are not very big but still taste good enough but $2.90 each is a bit expensive. Probably not something I’ll come again for anytime soon.

狗不理包来了。不是很大但味道不错但觉得一个包子$2.90有点贵。可能不会再次很快到来。

The last dish is chicken wish chestnut. This is the best dish among the food we ordered.

最后一道菜是栗子鸡煲。最好吃是这道菜了。

Overall conclusion: The meal is good for special occasion but $90 for two people is not something I’ll crave to come back soon.

总的结论，这餐应节吃还可以但两人$ 90也是有点贵。就不会渴望尽快回来再吃。
