"The wise listens and the foolish one speaks"
This is a proverb that my mum always do tell I and my siblings. Anytime she does I do wonder why she keeps saying those words until a day that I asked her the reason about it and she told me the story of two warriors.

There was a warrior named Ikenna, he was brave, powerful, hardworking and strong. He got the perfect description of a nobleman in the times of old but his mouth never closes, the down aspect about him he always sings his self-praise.
There was another warrior called Chike. He wasn't as strong and brave as Ikenna and other warriors, for this reason, his co-warriors do make a jest of him especially Ikenna who normally called him "Weak child"

On a certain day, the king called all the warriors of Udakue Kingdom together and told them he wants volunteers that will go into the deep forest to hunt for the golden egg that was a loss for over 50 years now by the late king. Out of over 50 great warriors in Udakue kingdom, only four came out with Ikenna being the first, followed by his friends Ogoor and Uche. When Chike stepped out Ikenna burst into laughter until the King called him to order.

The king spoke, As you all know since the golden egg was lost by my late father when he went hunting in the forest, the kingdom keeps depreciating on a daily basis. I tried to recover the glory of our kingdom 10years ago but it wasn't a success as the recovery of the golden egg led to my impotency. Now, I have only one child who is a female and as we all know females ain't allowed to rule in our custom except they will not get married. I don't want my only child to be single with no offspring for I want my lineage to continue. So whoever will be able to restore back the golden egg will get married to my daughter and be made king after I passed on.

Those words from the King got Ikenna so high as a drunk and he was bragging with his friends and they couldn't hear what the king said further clearly

Two days into the forest Ikenna and his friends argued that the King told them to attack and kill the monkey that has taken charge of the golden egg. Chike corrected them that the King said they should throw bananas to the monkey to make it distracted and leave the golden egg. Ikenna, Ogoor and Uche laughed at Chike calling him lazy and afraid to fight. Ikenna friend's Ogoor and Uche went to attack the monkey but were not successful. With all bravery, Ikenna went to attack the monkey but in turn, got eaten by wild animals in the forest. When Ogoor and Chike saw Ikenna have been eaten and killed by wild animals, they run back to the kingdom to tell their ordeal to the kingdom.

As they were telling their story they were shocked as they saw Chike walking towards them with a sparkling golden egg because they thought he could have eaten by wild animals also. Chike knelt before the King and presented the egg onto him. Did they ask him how come? He told them about how he distracted the monkey by throwing a bunch of banana at it on the ground and he came down from the tree and he was able to gain access to the tree and collect the golden egg

The king spoke you have done well Chike I wasn't able to get the golden egg when I went to recover it but rather became impotent because I didn't listen to the advice of not attacking the monkeys but luring it with bananas. Your story is truly that of the proverb "the wise listen and the foolish ones speak"

Chike eventually got married to the King's daughter and was made king when the king passed away.
