Urayuli: North American Folklore
Urayuli are a mythical race of creatures, that are said to live only in Alaska. The Urayuli are hulking, giant creatures. Covered entirely in a shaggy coat of hair, the only facial feature visible are their eerily luminescent eyes. They are also marked by their extremely long limbs; the arms of a Urayuli are said to reach all the way to their ankles.
Legend has it that the glowing eyes of the Urayuli are used to hypnotize their prey. Although you shouldn’t be frightened of these beasts, they prefer to eat deer and are known to be gentle in regards to humans.
The high pitched cry that the Urayuli emits is said to be similar to the song of a loon. It has been described as “haunting”.
Some stories say that the Urayuli are a type of Bigfoot, while others site their origin as a cautionary tale. Those stories say that the Urayuli are actually transformed from children who have been lost in the woods.

Although the legend says that they are harmless beings, we do not know how they can react if they feel threatened. I believe that as they say, much of the story was done so that the children would stay in their homes and not go out alone into the forest. A sort of Little Red Riding Hood story but with another character. Thank you for remembering this character

Shaggy beasts seem to be common in folklore (I.e. the yeti and big foot). I like the glowing eyes that hypnotize their prey. I can see that working kind of like how headlights make some animals freeze. Very neat
