Spring Flowers- Grape Hyacinth- Part 14

Grape Hyacinth

Grape Hyacinths are not related to the hyacinth. They are members of the lili family. There are approximately 40 different species and this one is Muscari armeniacum.

Grape hyacinth's get their name because they resemble a bunch of grapes and look like miniature hyacinths. They are hardy flowers that bloom in the spring and last for 3 weeks. They come in dark blue, light blue and all white.

There can be anywhere from 12-40 flowers on each stalk and can grow 4-12 inches tall.

I found these growing in the grass instead of a garden. They are such cute little flowers that brighten up the spring lawn, especially where the grass doesn't grow.

More spring flowers to come, so stay tuned!

Me complace haberte hecho feliz.

Those are sure pretty little flowers 🌼 💕
Do they have a nice smell?

It's sure great to see all your wonderful
photography of blooming and leafing
goodies @whatisnew!

Aren't they cute? I couldn't smell anything. When I did my research, one site said they had no smell and another site said they had a sweet, aromatic scent. Who knows?
I am so happy that you enjoy my photos. I don't call it photography because they are nothing like yours...a true photographer. But...I did get a new camera from my 2 kids on Mother's Day and the photos are amazing! Right now, I am still using the photos from my old camera. When I start posting the new photos, I am sure you will be able to tell the difference. Maybe then I can use the word photography. I will let you be the judge. LOL! : )

😊 Blushing here, thank your very much for your
very kind sweet words @whatisnew!! ❤
Ooo new camera you say!! Congratulations and
a very happy belated happy mothers day 💕

Photography❣

Speaking of judging, I will be judging some
shadows this week :-)

Thank you! : )
You will be a wonderful shadow judge. Have fun!
When I lost over 500 photos last summer, I lost about 50 of my shadow photos. : (

I did not know this type of flowers and the truth is they are very beautiful and particular and certainly resemble a cluster of grapes. It is a pity that this type of flowers have such a short life time. It is striking, the large number of flowers that are produced per stem and the low height that can reach the Grape Hyacinth. I like it.
Greetings @whatisnew.

You always make me smile with your comments @cjao20. : ) All of the beautiful spring flowers have such a short life span and it is a pity! I am happy to show you something different and glad that you like them. : )

I was wondering what these beauties were called. Now I know thanks to @whatisnew.

Glad to be of some help Mike! : )

It the first time for me seeing this kind of flower. It doesn't appear ini my country. Wish I can see and touch it closely.

I think if it is planted in a pot and placed in the corner of house becomes the room beautify . Could it?

Happy nice day. Wish you and your families are happy always. :)

I wish you could touch them closely too. : ) To grow them inside your house, you first need to plant the bulbs in moist potting soil and move them into the basement where it is cold (35-45 degrees F.) They have to stay cold for 10 weeks. Then bring them into a bright, sunny place in your home for them to bloom.
You have a nice day and happiness always too @ayijons. : )
