The Blood of the Covenant.

Covenant is a powerful word that should be used carefully. In this article, I will be talking about God's Covenant with the Blood-what it symbolizes. God will always fulfill His covenant.

Exodus 24:8

Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said, "This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words."

God's covenant-His "life agreement" - with Israel through the sprinkling of blood. This was a sign that sacrifice would be necessary to maintain their relationship with God.

The Symbols

  • The blood symbolized cleansing and forgiveness made possible by a life sacrificed to God-a life that paid the severe penalty for sin and rebellion against God. When these sacrifices were made in obedience to God, they opened the way for people to have a relationship with Him based on faith.

  • "The blood of the covenant "symbolized the ultimate sacrifice for our sins, which was the death of Christ Jesus. When He shed His own blood on the cross, He essentially fulfilled all the requirement of the old covenant and established the new covenant.

11 But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. 12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. 13 The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. 14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

15 For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

16 In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it, 17 because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living. 18 This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood.
Hebrew 9:11-18

His sacrificial death spiritually purifies those who trust Him. He has become their help to avoid sin and to follow Him.

  • Obedience must always go along with sacrifice. This is God's requirement. Anything less fail to show complete devotion to Him. Only after the people pledged to obey was the covenant sealed by the sacrificial blood. Only then could they participate in the benefits of their covenant relationship with God.
Peter refers to this when he says that we chosen "for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling of His blood." (1Peter 1:2)

In a nutshell, this covenant of blood those not apply only for the people of Israel but has taken place for us as a believer through Christ Jesus and it is left to us to have the faith needed to tap into the full potential.
My advice to us in general is never to make a covenant we cannot keep. We are not God that will never fail. A covenant of blood is not for human to human but of God to make us have access to him by our faith through #prayer.

Thanks for reading and stay bless.
Shalom.
