Six second abs: Hilarious and stupid product

in #fitness3 years ago

Let's face facts here folks. Unless you really work extremely hard and pay very close attention to your diet if you are over the age of say 26 or so, you probably aren't going to have abs in your life. Well, I mean you can have them, but they aren't going to be terribly noticeable on you. Life catches up with most people and it certainly did with me as I went from being an elite athlete on a division-1 athletic scholarship to 60-70 lbs overweight in my mid-30's. My abs are pretty strong, but you'll likely never get to look at them because I refuse to stop drinking beer and ordering food that I enjoy.

I'm doing ok as far as overall fitness is concerned but I did it using normal machinery that almost every gym has or by good ol' fashioned running around the streets.

There are some silly products that have come out over the years that promise that you will be able to get abs without situps (which are actually bad for you anyway, as I have explained before) but every now and then a product comes along that makes promises that are just too good to be true.... but that is because they aren't true.

Six Second Abs was one of those products.

Thankfully, this product is all but gone but there was a time when informercials ruled the night and people would actually fall for this crap. They made claims that it was 15 times more effective than crunches and that it would only require, as the product suggests, 6 seconds to complete the exercise.

The problem wasn't that machine didn't work, it was also very prone to breaking because it was cheaply made plastic crap. The resistance it provided wasn't nearly difficult enough to be 15 times as effective as a situp or crunch and if you tried to make it so, you'd break it. Awesome!

I can't believe that this debunked product still exists but it does. Here's the link but for the love of everything holy, do not even consider buying this product.

One good thing that came out of all of this is that there are some parody sites out there that mimic the actual website and it is much more entertaining than the real website.

This last one is a bit strange because it is from the actual 6 second abs website and is meant to be a genuine customer testimonial. I don't know if bragging about your daughter having multiple boyfriends is something to be proud of buddy.

There is a ton of garbage for sale out there that makes promises that the equipment is not going to be able to provide. These companies take advantage of the inherent laziness that is inside of all of us but the reality of the situation is that if you want abs, you gotta work for them and also control your diet and sadly, most people are not willing to do either one of those things.
