The Benefits of Pole Fitness
Like many popular fusions, fitness and dance have merged together, and have created a few classes that are worth talking about.
First off, pole dancing is quite popular these days. You get to hone your sexy side with these classes and commit to strengthening moves. The goal is to swing around the pole like a classy girl. I’ve tried these classes, and guys - they’re great. The instructors make the moves look easy and effortless. We all know looks can be deceiving, but when you actually learn the technique of the ‘spin’, it’s quite easy! Yes upper body strength is involved, but isn’t that said for everything involving fitness? The main goal is to strengthen your upper body!
Many men and women are opposed to this new fitness/dance style, as they think of the obvious – only strippers pole dance. Many people do not want to be associated with the taboo. Which is understandable. But there are many sides to pole. Irmingard Mayer agrees with me and believes: “While the sexy side is still very present, there are actually three main branches of pole dancing: sport, art, and sexy.” See, you can be sexy while diving into your artistic side.
Once you ‘graduate’ from beginner class, you move on to level 2, and so on! You’re always learning. Plus they ENCOURAGE you to bring platforms or heels to class! It’s quite empowering wearing heels and stomping around the room.
There are also many benefits of pole dancing. Here is a list of them according to Lizette Borreli:
- Enhances confidence
- Weight loss
- Tones up your body
- Increases flexibility
Have you ever been to one of these classes? Post below with your favorite type of dance style!
