Steps to Fitness- Over 40
"Oh my goodness I'm almost 50!"
"Makes no sense going to the gym, I'm over 60 it's downhill from here"
The Challenge
If you are over 40 you may have had those thoughts racing through your mind. You think about your days of youth when you were strong and vibrant and could do almost anything.
You may now pay more attention to your aches and pains which may impede you mentally to start exercising.
Or unfortunately you had a visit to the doctor's who tells you you should be exercising and you need to watch your diet.
Whatever the reason may be if you're reading this blog it means that you're mentally conscious that you should be doing something about your health. So there is hope for you.
Hope
First things first is that it is possible to get healthy at whatever age you may be. We are as young as we think. The challenges is, we may not not feel the way we used to feel when we were in a our teens, however this does not mean that's all Is lost.
I've been working out for many years. Unfortunately I was not always consistent with my fitness routine.
Now at 47 I have to say that I'm in the best shape I've ever been!
Maybe it's because have more experience in exercising, more aware of my body and how it works, and stronger mentally.
With age comes wisdom. You can now sculpt your body the way you always wanted it be.
You will exercise better, you will avoid all the common mistakes that young people make that gives them lifetime injuries.
You will learn to be patient with yourself.
There's no better time than NOW to get started in taking care of yourself, if you have not already doing so.
The Plan
The biggest challenge that most people have, no matter what age, is procrastination. One of the reason for this is there's no definite plan. Once you make a plan you should write it down and stick to it.
Think of your daily schedule.
MAKE THE TIME TO EXERCISE!
DON'T say that you have no time for exercising. That's just a big lie.
When you think about it we're really lying to ourselves.
It could be laziness or we're just tired. That's okay. When you starting something new it's always very difficult at first no matter how old we are.
If you stick to a plan for at least 90 days it becomes a habit. We hear so many stories about bad habits and how they're hard to break.
Imagine if we create good habits! Just imagine what your life would be like if you could add more good habits to your life!
Write down your plan as to when you decide to exercise. Also please don't forget your diet.
You don't need a big lecture about what to eat.
You're older now you're wiser you know exactly what to eat!
Ok, you may need a little guidance here and there, but don't let that be a reason to stop you from eating well.
Stick to the Plan
In the beginning you may not see a whole bunch of results. Please don't let that be a reason for you to give up.
In time consistency will prove itself.
There are many changes that are going on inside your body that you may not see. They are good changes, for example improved blood circulation, stronger bone density, and the releasing of endorphins to help you manage stress.
So don't wait another day start exercising now! If you had pizza last night for dinner and a can of soda, try switching that up to eating vegetables and some grilled meat or fish. You don't have to starve yourself to be healthy.. And it doesn't mean that you could never eat junk food.
Whatever we do it should all be done in BALANCE.
SO DON'T WASTE ANOTHER MOMENT, MAKE THAT STEP TODAY TO IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH!

I am closing in on 50 and yet I feel like my body has a lot of potential. It has not always been like that, but a positive mindset has made me much better at focusing on the good stuff and when doing that it is easier to stop procrastinating. Another thing I am doing is that I give myself challenges. They can be like taking a short walk or trying a new gym class.
It's nice to give yourself challenges. If we don't push ourselves we never grow. We keep a book doing so much more than we can possibly imagine!
Thanks for your support @linxki 💪🏾
