Good morning, everyone!
Today I woke up without an alarm, in my super comfortable bed, to cool air and a misty gray sky. It was such a peaceful feeling that I couldn't help but appreciate what a nice way that was to start my day.
I often use Sunday as a day to be productive, to prep for the week, and get lots of things done... I kind of think of it as "happiness insurance" for later - the more I finish up today, the less stress I will experience throughout the week and thus the happier I will be.
Although I try to highlight the importance of being mindful and grateful regularly, I think that focus on Sundays has fallen by the wayside in my attempts to buffer my weekly stresses with ample prep on my last free day of the weekend :)
Don't get me wrong, I still love using Sunday as a prep powerhouse and I think it's a great time to start implementing lifestyle improvements (read more about that HERE) but I thought this might be the perfect time to slow down and put some happiness boosters in place as well - there's never a wrong time for that!
So what I'm saying is that I think it's not only important but totally possible to balance both productivity and positivity on Sundays, and I want to share with you how I plan to do that today in hopes that you'll follow suit - it's worth it, I promise!
Today I plan to take some time for myself, doing things that directly benefit my body and spirit, while also jamming through the activities that I know make my week a breeze :)
So today I was lucky enough to wake up slowly, I made a delicious cup of coffee and now am here writing to you! My plan is to head over to a hot yoga (with weights) class to get moving and sweating, then go straight to lunch with one of my all-time BFFs :) I can hardly think of anything better than a great workout before a tasty and hilarious lunch with one of my nearest and dearest!
After seeing him, I've made a list of things I want to finish around the house - some cleaning and reorganizing that I didn't finish yesterday, a little meal prep, and some laundry so I'm not scrambling during the week. I made a rough timeline to help me keep from getting distracted, and to ensure that I leave plenty more time for me afterward :)
I also plan to start mapping out a program for a new client that I'm excited about working with... I guess work doesn't really feel like work when you enjoy it!
When I finish all of that, I intend to go for a little jog or walk and listen to a podcast. I love to zone out and listen to something I'm interested in while I move - it's so good for the body and the brain!
Finally, after all of that, I'm going to light my favorite candles, relax, and do some reading. Nerdy? Perhaps :) but I LOVE reading when it's something I enjoy learning about, and I'm going to take the time to do that for myself!
So today, I am feeling grateful for the life I have, and also for the time I am making available to do things that fortify me and make me even happier :)
I've learned that taking time for yourself amidst the craziness of life is KEY.
It's up to you to MAKE your life a happy one - don't wait for circumstances to change or someone else to make it happen for you. Your life is so much a product of your choices, so choose to do, say, think, and make time for the things and people that make you feel your best.
If you put your mind to it, you can get a ton of stuff done AND make today a happy day! Just like everything else, it's all about choosing wisely, mindfulness and balance :)
How will you make today a HAPPY day?
