This is the most popular and widely used method of casting.
This method is usualy used by carp anglers to keep casting their bait on one desired spot, to create a feeding spot, its a very acurate casting method with many diffrent aplacations.
Question:@knoxman can this method be aplied in saltwater fishing, and how?
Ofcourse this method can be used in almost every fishing scenario, i love using this method personally when fishing a over crowded pier where a presicion cast is critical...
Over the shoulder cast
This is my personal favourite, the main focus on a cast like this is DISTANCE...
Its not as easy to cast and its very easy to mess up, but when you get that cast out its usualy very deep.
The angle of the rod combined with your body motion allows you to put maximun of youre strength into the cast resulting in a longer cast, not so accurate unfortunatly.
Its most used purpose is for large baits and distance, as that is my usual setup...

Always! Safety is very important with every casting method, i have seen some real damage done by inexperienced anglers.
Always warn people that you are going to cast and make sure nobody is standing in close proximity when casting. See end of article on how to remove a hook from the skin.

This method is very usefull when fishing in confined spaces such as under bridges, under trees casting into/underneath over hanging branches etc.
Its most commonly used by advanced anglers that are targeting those black bass, trout or yellow fish.
Its mainly for lure or fly casting but can be used with bait aswell when scracthing around for those large catfish.
This is not made for distance but acuracy and having youre lure move as close to the water as possible, avoiding overhanging structures.
Question:@knoxman are these methods the only way to cast, and which one should i use?
Well thats a great question and no, there are numerous diffrent casting methods, you should just use these as guidelines and find the method that works for you...
Safety
How to remove a hook from youre skin.
Drink 2 shots of vodka (for the pain)
Push the hook through to prodrude the skin on the other side.
Cut of the barb or tip of the hook
Pull it back out easily.
