The state of California does require a fishing license, and some locations are protected or privately owned. But this reservoir and the river only require the basic license. 2018 was the first year hubby and I bought licenses, and we have a lot to learn about the art and sport of catching fish. Hopefully, we will have better luck this year. We've been half-joking about getting a kayak or something for fishing from the middle of the local lakes....we will see.
