My IFAK - Individual First Aid Kit
I've been working on getting my IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) together and wanted to share it with you all. This is a budget kit and one that I have put together myself piece-by-piece.
So what is an IFAK?
An IFAK was a military creation for troops to address the two most deadly injuries sustained on the battlefield. It was designed as a lightweight bare-bones med kit for self-aid or buddy-aid. Another common definition for IFAK is Improved First Aid Kit. I prefer to use the "Individual" term, as I think of bigger kits or more complex kits when I hear the term "Improved".
Where and when would you use your IFAK?
I keep this kit on me everyday, everywhere. It's a part of my EDC (Every Day Carry). The only exception is when it may be in my vehicle while I am in a store.
The mindset behind this kit is for it to act as a trauma kit. Big wounds, big situations, life-threatening injuries--whatever the cause. While it has a few bandages, it's not a Boo Boo Kit. I keep more generic first aid kits in the vehicles and home for that stuff.
The Kit
Pictures are always worth more than words, so I'll let the below photos show you what's inside my IFAK.
Improvements
As with anything else, it is best to always evaluate and improve as you can. There are three main items that I will be adding to this IFAK in the coming weeks; Clothing Scissors, Nasopharyngeal Airway Tube ("nose hose"), and Vented Chest Seals. Beyond this, I may tweak items here and there, but my IFAK will be complete.

Many associate an IFAK with military or shootings, but an IFAK is useful in any traumatic injury situation.
Intetesting, I keep a fully stocked trauma bag in the car but don't have an EDC kit. I will have to think about adding one!
I'd be interested in reading/seeing what you have in yours. Let me know if you post on it. :)
Good kit there @greenacrehome.
The only bit I'm not familiar with is the Coban Wrap. Just looked it up - I've got some - but didn't know the name 😊
I probably only know it by that name because I work in the medical field. :-) For others: It's a self-adherent medical wrap/bandage.
That's a wonderful IFAK you've put together there. My favorite part was that you have duct tape in it. A good reminder that I need to make up a few of these myself.
Duct tape everywhere! LOL It's currently my "poor man's chest seal". I'm waiting for payday to pick up some true vented chest seals. :) Thanks for commenting and the compliment!
That is a well stocked IFAK! I really need to look at what we have and get it updated! Thanks for sharing! God Bless!

Agree 100 percent. I always carry something similar in my car. Great idea for everyone. The only problem is that not everyone knows what to do under duress. Good post🐓🐓
And that's why I'm adamant that myself and my family know how to! :)
