Chipotle stock recently hit a record high, which comes after a long road following the 2015 E. coli food borne illness outbreaks.

For the first time since August 2015 their shares jumped to a high of $759.

For those who love Chipotle, you might have suspected that the E. coli scandal wasn't going to be the end of them, sooner or later they were going to turn things around.

Is this a sign now that they've achieved that turnaround? Their CEO B. Niccol thinks that they are just getting started on that front.

For 2019, Chipotle is up more than 70 percent already, and is considered to be one of the best performing stocks this year in the S&P 500.

They started that turnaround by hiring Niccol, who had been a former Taco Bell CEO. Though things are already looking great for 2019, Niccol insists that they are still only in the early stages of that turnaround.

"There's still so much opportunity in front of us, and still a lot of work to be done on just the basics of running great restaurants." - Niccol

Traffic at the restaurant chain is on the rise as Chipotle remains dedicated to offering real food and real ingredients to their guests.

For trying to turn things around they've invoked a number of changes. They've raised prices nationwide and started offering new salad bowls that are looking to cater to certain crowds: Paleo, keto, vegan, vegetarian etc. They are also introducing new ovens and expanding their beverage selection.

Chipotle is currently under a digital transformation as technology continually changes the restaurant landscape. They want to give guests more ways to interact with the company, making the business overall easier for them to navigate and more efficient overall.

Despite the negative news on the previous health scare, many still remain dedicated to the brand, they love Chipotle.

They might even introduce a breakfast menu in the near future, but for now they are focused on growing the business back to where it needs to be, recovering from that E. coli scandal and they're doing very good job of it.
