Hacksaw Ridge Movie Review
We went to see this film on Saturday night.
What an amazing and thoroughly entertaining movie
The film begins in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains and ends on Okinawa 16 years later
Mel Gibson has taken some knocks in the last few years but has come back directing this story of a young guy who joins the army but is a pacifist and will not carry a gun.
The film tells a story of two brothers being brought up by an adoring mother but a violent and drunken father. On one day he fights with his brother and in temper picks up a brick and nearly kills him.
From that day forward he puts into practice the Lords words " Thou shall not Kill"
He falls in love with a nurse but realises that he still has a duty to his country to perform and if he cant fight for his country he can become a medic and help to save the wounded.
Next we cheer Desmond on in his struggle against the military establishment to be allowed to serve without a firearm. And last, we enjoy the shallow but significant moral satisfaction of seeing him saving lives in the midst of a rubble-strewn hell, knowing he and we were right all along.
Director: Mel Gibson and stars ; Andrew Garfield, Teresa Palmer, Vince Vaughn, Sam Worthington, Hugo Weaving and Rachel Griffiths. All give excellent performances , however to me Vince Vaughn was superb as the sergeant major.
This is a true story and how in battle managed to save 75 soldiers lives when being attacked on the battlefield by the Japanese with not a single weapon.
His strive to gain one more person continually is really moving
At the end of the movie, please watch the credits because it tells and shows you the real soldier he actually was.
A pleasure to watch.

Did you get to see it. What did you think
It was such a great movie!!! Very bad bloody scenes but my husband enjoyed it very much. Any movie you recommend from now we will definitely watch!
It seems that I read about this man. Looking forward to the movie!
Great movie Rich. You will enjoy
It sounds like a great movie, but I hate to see gore and blood. If it weren't for that, there are a lot of war movies I would have watched.
I would be lying if I said there did not exist in the movie, however please don't let that put you off . Turn way for a few minutes because its the story line which makes it. Enjoy
