“Stay Hungry” is a drama with comedy elements. The main role in the film went to Jeff Bridges (Craig Blake). He plays a young rich man who, after the death of his parents, has not yet decided what he wants to do. Blake is in no hurry to continue the family business; instead, he and a group of adventurers are engaged in buying real estate. They buy retail a whole quarter, and then sell it to corporations for the construction of a shopping center. The next quarter was almost bought up, Blake was left to buy only a small Olympic gym with an intractable owner. To scout out the situation, Blake signs up at the gym, unknowingly plunging into the world of "ordinary people." Finding new friends and new love among them, Blake is disappointed in his former surroundings and idle lifestyle.

In addition to Bridges and Schwarzenegger, it is impossible not to mention the work of the young Robert Inglund - a jovial masseur and teaser, in whom there is still nothing from the nightmare of your dreams of Freddy Krueger.

But enough about the other actors, not for them we are here. Coincidentally, an Austrian bodybuilder (as well as a master of swimming, tennis, curling and much more) Joe Santo performed by Arnold Schwarzenegger trained at the gymnasium where Blake signed up. Although Arnold does his favorite thing in the film - he pumps iron - but he plays an atypical role for himself as a very modest, well-bred person who resists the temptations of life, preferring to "stay hungry." It should be noted that this role goes very well to the future Terminator, it’s not for nothing that Arnold received the Golden Globe for her as the most promising debutant of 1976.

While the real Schwarzenegger was preparing to become Mr. Olympia for the sixth time in a row (after shooting, he had only three months to gain weight for the competition), his character Joe Santo was preparing to become Mr. Universe. He trains the entire film, however, he is not in a hurry to expose the torso (although Blake's drunken friends demand that he show tits during a performance at a dinner party). On the contrary, during training the modest Schwarzenegger puts on a Batman suit. But at the end of the film, during the competition, Arnold gets his five minutes of fame, demonstrating everything that he loves and knows how.

Well, the last scene in the film, when fifty naked bodybuilders rush out into the street and fraternize with the crowd, looks like a nationwide recognition of bodybuilding.
