Muge (Man), The Second Documentary I produced with Funds From Steem

This is the second documentary that I produced using the production funds from Steemit. That is, I tell all the production processes in my steemit blog, starting from idea preparation, field research, shooting, to completion. I was submitting this documentary to the Kyoto University Film Festival, Japan (Visual Documentary Project 2017). All costs that I spent during the production process in Banda Aceh were the rewards that I received from Steemit.

Ini adalah film dokumenter kedua yang saya produksi dengan memanfaatkan dana produksi dari Steemit. Maksudnya, saya menceritakan semua proses produksi, mulai dari persiapan ide, riset lapangan, shooting, hingga selesai. Film dokumenter ini saya ikutkan ke Festival Film Kyoto University, Jepang (Visual Documentary Project 2017). Semua biaya yang saya habiskan selama proses produksi di Banda Aceh adalah hasil reward yang saya peroleh dari Steemit.

Synopsis of Film

Muge (the name for the Fishmonger who circumvents the city in Banda Aceh) is an immediate fish wholesaler from TPI (Fish Auction Place) in Lampulo to the networks in Banda Aceh city. Muge assumes a noteworthy job in providing fish to all sides of Banda Aceh. Why we produce this documentary

We saw housewives in the city of Banda Aceh, most of whom worked in the office until noon, some even arrived in the afternoon. Some of them cannot drive vehicles for mobilization. Fish Market, located far from their homes, is an obstacle to shopping for fish for daily needs. Then we find out, how they can meet the need for fish for daily meals. Since before the tsunami disaster, it turned out that there was a profession that helped these housewives. Muge, as it is called for mobile fish sellers, who buy fish from TPI (Fish Auction Place) in Lampulo, Banda Aceh then sell it directly to homes in the city. We see this symbiosis of mutualism between Muge and housewives in the city. There are many nomads from South Aceh who are urbanizing into the city, to become Muge. With sufficient income, Muge became another profession besides working in a coffee shop in Banda Aceh that was promising for migrants from their coastal areas. For housewives, clearly the benefits they get are, the effective time in shopping. They do not need to leave homework to buy fish. Besides that, they are more economical. the price of fish sold Muge is cheaper than the price sold on the market. The reason, Muge does not spend much on operational costs, only for motorcycle fuel, as well as the cost of drinking. This relationship actually forms a beneficial interaction and can build a city economy. Availability of jobs for migrants and the smooth supply of fish to city residents who like instant things, without having to go to the market. Muge also has a large buyer scope. We see this, and feel the need to convey it to other regional communities through the medium of documentary film. Economic empowerment generated by the community itself, without waiting for government policies. This is a positive thing caused by Muge and housewives in Banda Aceh City.

Kami melihat para ibu rumah tangga di kota Banda Aceh, yang sebagian besar bekerja di kantor hingga tengah hari, beberapa bahkan tiba di sore hari. Beberapa dari mereka tidak dapat mengemudi kendaraan untuk mobilisasi. Pasar Ikan, yang terletak jauh dari rumah mereka, merupakan kendala untuk berbelanja ikan untuk kebutuhan sehari-hari. Kemudian kami mencari tahu, bagaimana mereka dapat memenuhi kebutuhan ikan untuk makan sehari-hari. Sejak sebelum bencana tsunami, ternyata ada profesi yang membantu para ibu rumah tangga ini. Dengan penghasilan yang cukup, Muge menjadi profesi lain selain bekerja di warung kopi di Banda Aceh yang menjanjikan bagi para migran dari daerah pesisir. Bagi ibu rumah tangga, jelas manfaat yang mereka dapatkan adalah, waktu efektif dalam berbelanja. Mereka tidak perlu meninggalkan pekerjaan rumah untuk membeli ikan. Selain itu, mereka lebih ekonomis. harga ikan yang dijual Muge lebih murah dari harga yang dijual di pasaran. Alasannya, Muge tidak menghabiskan banyak biaya operasional, hanya untuk bahan bakar sepeda motor, serta biaya minum. Hubungan ini sebenarnya membentuk interaksi yang menguntungkan dan dapat membangun ekonomi kota. Tersedianya pekerjaan bagi para migran dan kelancaran pasokan ikan bagi warga kota yang menyukai hal-hal instan, tanpa harus pergi ke pasar. Muge juga memiliki ruang lingkup pembeli yang besar. Kami melihat ini, dan merasakan kebutuhan untuk menyampaikannya kepada komunitas regional lainnya melalui media film dokumenter. Pemberdayaan ekonomi yang dihasilkan oleh masyarakat itu sendiri, tanpa menunggu kebijakan pemerintah. Ini adalah hal positif yang disebabkan oleh Muge dan ibu rumah tangga di Kota Banda Aceh.
