Child /#fiftywords
Their only child died,
In their own pool.
He was just three.
The public outraged.
The public sympathised.
They are to be blamed and charged for manslaughter, The right said.
They lost their only child, they are mourning. We should mourn with them, The left said.
There's a law.
Court!

Oh my, how traumatic! I have no idea how these cases are handled in courts, or if the families are treated like criminals for neglect. And, come to think of it, every case is certainly different. If the pool has no gate, and the parents don't pay attention to the kids, that's one thing. If they do everything in their power, and a child still somehow gets to the "attractive menace," as I believe it's called, that is another thing. You've captured the challenge really well -- should a family in grief be charged and held accountable?
I recently found out about how some countries have some laws to attack such instances. And hardly would a parent intentionally put their children in harms way. For the question should a family in grief be charged and held accountable? I don't subscribe to that. Losing ones child is enough of a punishment.
Unless of course it's a special case like you said. Some humans are capable of doing despicable things. Glad you got the msg😀
I liked the push and pull of this story.
It's sad to lose a child that way you describe it.
Had to redraft twice to get point clear.
Thanks.
