Fifty Word challenge || Frivolous desires

This is one of my photos digitally enhanced to fit the story I wrote. For some, dew drops are the only diamonds they need. 🙂
Amy always loved diamonds. Never afforded them however she was still dreaming about these beautiful stones.
Every day she was walking by the jewelry store but never entered. Today she had to try those beautiful earrings.
"What if...?" Amy thought while the man behind the counter was attending another customer.
This is my contribution to the very nice and creative challenge 50-word story initiated by @jayna. This week's prompt is if.
My story is quite simple: Amy is a girl who loves diamonds. She cannot afford them but she still dreams about the day when she will have some precious stones. On her way to work, she is walking by a jewelry store and she keeps admiring a pair of diamond earrings. She never entered that store as this would be pointless, she cannot afford anything.
One day though, she feels the urge to try those diamond earrings.
Being left alone with the expensive jewels, Amy is attempted to take them with her. The important question "what if" arises. She will finally satisfy her most important desire. At that point she doesn't seem to mind of consequences though.
We all have some secret desires and expensive dreams. Wishes that might never become reality. But are we willing to sacrifice everything for such frivolous things? Are these things frivolous or symbols of something much deeper and important?

A sweet story and beautiful image, @roxy-cat! Naturally, I don’t condone stealing, but I can’t help feel compassion for your character’s deep desire for the lovely gems. Moral dilemmas are great topics to explore in fiction.

Being a person who usually does not treasure material stuff, I hardly understand why somebody will risk so much just for some...carbon. I'm trying to find an excuse for this behaviour though. There must be something deeper which draws Amy on that path.
That's a nice story! 💜 I guess that all of us have such dreams and desires - only some dare to take a risk and others don't even bother to. I think that people with holes in their souls usually are more likely to fill those holes with things...

Unfortunately some people are willing to sacrifice too much for such frivolous desires. Perhaps those diamonds are a symbol of something deeper. They may represent the achievement of a certain status.
Or the character is one of those shallow people who have no other desires but the material ones.
