Brows deeply furrowed, Father muttered disbelievingly. “Nonsense! He has legendary wizards' blood in him.”

With a flick of Father’s long fingers, stuffed turkey in a cast iron skillet flew at lightning speed towards my chest.

“No!” Mother gasped in horror. I could only duck.

So I decided to interpret the prompt "gift" differently, in the sense of a natural ability or talent, for this micro-fiction piece. I also threw in some turkey for the festive mood (;

But more seriously, I hope this piece highlights the burdens parents often place on their children, to live up to their expectations - at times to the extent of denying reality. The consequences can be really disastrous.
