RE: Defenceless Orangutans: A fifty-word story
Okay, I won't pretend to know exactly what is going on in this story, but it's really quite intriguing. I would love an explanation!

Ora is an orangutan who lives in the trees (as most do). In countries such as Indonesia, their habitats are threatened by massive deforestation (the creature is a human-controlled machine that is destroying the trees). This deforestation is generally occurring due to the palm oil industry, which destroys natural habitats to grow palm trees in their place.
In hindsight, I should have written on the post about this. This video was critical to the idea:
Oh my gosh, how terrible! Honestly, I originally thought that the story was a sci-fi story, and that Ora was facing a robot. This does shed some light on the meaning behind the story. Thank you! And how very heartbreaking. When will we learn that deforestation is killing us all?
It's extremely terrible. I believe that it's estimated that over 150,000 orangutans have disappeared from Borneo. It's a main reason why I eliminated palm oil (as hard as it is) from my diet. Major companies and products, such as Oreo, use palm oil despite the environmental consequences.
I depicted the machine as a robotic and mechanic because from an Orangutan's perspective, it's an alien species and they wouldn't know it's human controlled.
