RE: Outliers :: A Short Story

in #fiction7 years ago

This was a good piece. Brought us right to the end still wondering if he would actually do it. For that I am happy.

What was important was to give his motivation some credence, this is what made his wrong act almost right... though it was not quite enough for him to be right to murder everyone.

Sort:

Your perceptions are astute! These are the same thoughts I had while writing it. He needs to be credible in his actions, but not so credible that he's evil. He needs to have a reason for what he's doing, but we can't be too descriptive in what he wants to do so as to be disgusted by it. And there needs to be some salvation for him, to complete his transformation into somebody decent, to show that he's not entirely unreasonable and is just a troubled teen burdened with his own unique world view (probably like most of us were).

Thanks for reading @zakludick!

My pleasure man.

Yeah we all had some troubled teen stages I am sure. Some of us had some odd combinations of things happening in our lives and I am sure many of us acted out in some or another way. However, when we look back at them I can say that my actions and reasons were pretty silly.

Also puts me into mind to always create an older ME to give advice and guidance to myself when i feel out of my depth.

It's true. Sometimes I wonder how any of us survive our teen years. We were SO DUMB back then.

And yet here we are. Still alive.

Unfortunately I know some who are no longer with us.
