In a cloudy afternoon weather, there is a thought of an invitation to enjoy that sad afternoon, be kind to visit a place. The place is very historic for the people of Aceh, where this ship can be dragged from a vast ocean.Kedhasyatan tsunami waves that hit the north coast of Banda Aceh in December 2004 ago was still leaving a trail. Not only is it still in mind, the tsunami also left a trail of monuments. The monument is a warning to anyone against the enormity of the forces of nature.

One of them is the monument diesel power (Diesel Power Plant) floating in Punge Village, Blancut, Banda Aceh. As the name implies, this ship is a source of electricity for the Ulee Lheue region - where the ship was tethered before the tsunami.

The ship with a length of 63 meters is capable of generating power of 10.5 megawatts. With an area reaching 1,900 square meters and weighing 2,600 tons, no one imagines this ship can move up to the middle of Banda Aceh City.

When the tsunami occurred on December 26, 2004, the ship was dragged by a tidal wave as high as 9 meters so it shifted to the heart of Banda Aceh City as far as 5 kilometers. This ship slammed into the middle of the residential community, not far from the Tsunami Museum.

Of the 11 crew members and some residents who were on board when the tsunami occurred, only one person survived. The phenomenon of this ship shift shows the awesomeness of the wave power that hit the Veranda of Mecca at that time.

Currently, the area around the PLTD Apung has been purchased by the government to be reorganized into educational tourism rides. To commemorate the casualties that fell due to the tsunami, built a memorial monument. On the monument, the date and time of the events of the disaster that also happened to some countries other than Indonesia.

Around the monument, built walls with reliefs resembling flood waves. From this boat, visitors can also see the Bukit Barisan mountain range.

Dikala cuaca siang yang sepertinya mendung, ada sebuah pikiran ajakan untuk menikmati siang yang sendu itu, terpanggilah hati untuk mengunjungi sebuah tempat. Tempat itu sangat bersejarah bagi warga Aceh, dimana kapal ini bisa terseret dari lautan yang luas.Kedhasyatan gelombang tsunami yang menerpa pesisir utara Banda Aceh pada Bulan Desember 2004 yang lalu ternyata masih meninggalkan jejak. Tidak hanya masih terbayang dalam ingatan, tsunami juga meninggalkan jejak berupa monumen. Monumen yang menjadi peringatan bagi siapapun terhadap dahsyatnya kekuatan alam.

Salah satunya adalah Monumen PLTD (Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Diesel) Apung di Desa Punge, Blancut, Banda Aceh. Sesuai namanya, kapal ini merupakan sumber tenaga listrik bagi wilayah Ulee Lheue – tempat kapal ini ditambatkan sebelum terjadinya tsunami.

Kapal dengan panjang 63 meter ini mampu menghasilkan daya sebesar 10,5 megawatt. Dengan luas mencapai 1.900 meter persegi dan bobot 2.600 ton, tidak ada yang membayangkan kapal ini dapat bergerak hingga ke tengah Kota Banda Aceh.

Ketika tsunami terjadi pada tanggal 26 Desember 2004, kapal ini terseret gelombang pasang setinggi 9 meter sehingga bergeser ke jantung Kota Banda Aceh sejauh 5 kilometer. Kapal ini terhempas hingga ke tengah-tengah pemukiman warga, tidak jauh dari Museum Tsunami.

Dari 11 orang awak dan beberapa warga yang berada di atas kapal ketika tsunami terjadi, hanya satu orang yang berhasil selamat. Fenomena pergeseran kapal ini menunjukkan kedahsyatan kekuatan gelombang yang menimpa Serambi Makkah kala itu.

Saat ini, area sekitar PLTD Apung telah dibeli oleh pemerintah untuk ditata ulang menjadi wahana wisata edukasi. Untuk mengenang korban jiwa yang jatuh akibat tsunami, dibangun monumen peringatan. Pada monumen itu, tertera tanggal dan waktu kejadian dari musibah yang juga menimpa beberapa negara selain Indonesia.

Di sekeliling monumen, dibangun dinding dengan relief menyerupai gelombang air bah. Dari atas kapal ini, pengunjung juga dapat melihat rangkaian pegunungan Bukit Barisan.

Setelah menikmati keindahan pemandangan yang ada disekitar, tidak lama kemudian kami pulang dengan hari juga semakin sore, semoga tempat monumen bersejarah ini selalu dilestarikan.
