Hey, my first book is a year old today!
Home To Texas: Recollections of a Texas Badman was written as a series right here on Steemit, and I published it as an Amazon Kindle title last year on this date. Over the last year, it has totaled a grand number of...34...sales (ten of which I bought myself, and passed out for free ;> ).
Today I changed the price to $3.99, up from the 99 cents I have started out at. If you hurry, you can still buy it for 99 cents before Amazon updates the price on it's market.
I still need to get the book formatted for print publishing, and market it on smashwords, as well!
I just bought a copy :)
Though I am sick right now and sleeping a lot, will read soon!
Thanks, I hope you enjoy it! I hope you enjoy it enough to review it, too! LOL

I'll post that on Good Reads soon; remind me if I don't!
A LOT of Clinton writing today!
Congrats on your anniversary.
Great discussion. First time I've heard of things like 'project Mockingbird publishers' and 'smashwords'. And, that Amazon got arsey about promoting work that had excerpts online. Surely they're aware that many of their vintage books are all over the place online.
Good luck with your books :)
I'm just glad that we dont have to go through a publishing-house approval process.
you can self-publish w/ no approval required, but then you have to market yourself AND compete w/ everybody else doing the same thing (hence, only 34 sold by me and no reviews, which are big!)
True. That's a painful process. Gets to a point where you feel glad they at least bothered to send a rejection letter. I'm going back to the days when everything had to be done on paper.
I remember someone I knew who decided to self-publish. She asked me to read her already-self-published novel and asked me for constructive feedback. She hasn't spoken to me since :S
I love the idea of self-publishing but there are many out there who can't write, don't edit, don't proofread. The quality control process is missing a lot of the time innit.
Ask those 10 people you gifted the book to -- request a review, get the ball rolling.
was last year, and I gave it away through a lottery program. from other's experience (IIRC) you need about 100 reads before you get a review
Ah, that's a shame. Can you promote it here? Maybe do little excerpts? That way people will know whether or not it's their type of thing :)
BTW I've got no voting power at the mo, so here's a smiley face for now :)
I'll take a smiley face ;>
its violent and vulgar, with some racist words thrown in for good measure, but if that dont bother ya...
the first chapter is here

I don't rmember if the links hold up through the whole book, but you can go chapter to chapter
Wow! Congratulations on your book. I've always wanted to do something like that, but worried about how much was entailed. Have you done any posts on steemit about how to self-publish on Amazon? Also, love the cover. Did you do your own art?
sort of. I found a picture online of a re-enactor who had the exact pose I wanted (minus cavalry saber); a Confederate cavalryman with a shotgun.
I couldn't find contact info, but I ran the pic through several filters (dont remember the process) until I got this look.
I like it, but the title is probably hard to read
oops -your other questions
it's not hard to publish through KDP...I'll try to dig up my old posts and comment them here
Kindle keeps finding lame excuses not to market my ebook (as do the other Project Mockingbird publishers)
smashwords has been recommended to me by another author who pulls in a few hundred a month...she told me most of her kindle sales were driven by smashwords. I have not looked into them myself...yet
Let me know what you find out! Speaking of the devil- I need to see if they've rejected my book again yet!
are you talking about the KDP select program? I had a problem with that too, because I had published parts of my book on Steemit
aklso the same with my COINTELPRO book, which I had shared on an academic site in whole
I don't know what the KDP program is- all of the ebook publishers are refusing it for the same reason (whatever that is)
KDP Slect allows you to give your book away for free occasionally.
Are you saying that Amazon isnt even publishong your ebook?
Have you tried this site?

and reminds me to do review and whore out your sale link ;> just coz I'm lazy, share your link on this one again...as a top level comment!
Well... they delivered the ol' black bologna again! I knew I shouldn't have outed the CIA and Dyncorp! I even called it Dynocorp so nobody would make the connection!
Goo Post...😃😃
well happy barthday good book
Great job my friend..😉
