A Weird Christmas Gift

It was a Christmas advent and most people were busy in preparation for #Christmas. There seemed to be too much to be done in the shortest time pisdible. Normally, Mercelina always prepared for Christmas 2-3 months before the time. Here family made it posdible as they usually provided for most Christmas purchases.

This time however, was different. Mercelina had recently married a handsome young man and moved in with him in his #apartment. Dick was a wonderful soulmate. Mercelina prided greatly in him.

So this was the first time the young lady was preparing for Christmas in her new home! She had to purchase for a Christmas tree, buy gifts for all her friends and buy enough food for the big day.

The list of all the things to be bought was tacked deep in her breast pocket as she walked briskly to her old Alfasud. She wanted to hurry and buy all commodities as soon as possible. Her husband worked out of town and usually came home on weekends. Being a Friday, she expected Dick on a Saturday. She entered her old model and drove at a breakneck speed to do her shopping in good time.

Suddenly, a siren began wailing in the distance. Mercelina looked at her speedometer only to discover, her soeed was above the limit. She slowed down and soon a police car was driving alongside. They dignalled her to stop. On stopping she was charged with driving beyond the speed limit.

She was booked in Vihiga police station waiting to go to court at 2 pm. Mercelina was hysterical. Her day was ruined. No more purchases today.

The judge gave her a fine of $200 and warned her against driving beyond the given speed limit. She was released though it was late and she drove direct to her home.

Tired and exhausted, she drove to her house. The phone was ringing shrily. The tired lady walked zombie-like to the phone.

"Hello," she spoke in the mouthpiece.

Her senses suddenly became alive. The voice on the other side had bad news. Her husband was nowhere to be seen and has missed work for three concequitive days. Dick's phone was not ringing either.

The exasperated lady hang up, scampered to the ground and weeped uncontrollably. Different thoughts filtered in her mind. What has happened to her beloved.

There was an earnest knock at the door. Mercelina laboriously rose from the ground. She was heavy laden, a notion which made her drag one foot after the other. Like an automated machine,she went and opened the door.

A big lump of a person literally fell inside the house. It was her beloved Dick. He was not himself. Dick's body was swollen to a big proportion. It was as if he suffered from #elephantiasis. He could not speak but looked as if he wanted to tell her something.

Before Mercelina's eyes, the body of her husband burst and worm-like creatures started slithering from the body. She fainted!
