It's not just trees. If you count hibernation, then you've got creatures that just... voluntarily go into a coma for a while [this includes those desert frogs that bury themselves and essentially enter a coma until the rains come again]
If you don't count hibernation, there's also the Weta which just straight up FREEZES in winter and returns to life as normal come the spring.
Deathworlds are WEIRD.
