Dance Me To The End Of Love (Photostory)

His words felt like thorns on her skin, pricking her flesh and leaving her there to bleed.
Alone. They have been alone for months, if not years in all this.
It had to come to an end somehow. The noose around his neck was tighter and tighter, the blades in her hands sank deeper and deeper inside her wrists. She cried herself to sleep at nights and he smoked one cigarette after the other just to avoid laying to bed next to her. In the end he'd get tired and lay on the couch.
The once happy couple, the once made for each other had now become strangers.
Now?
This didn't happen at an instant. It was not a blink of an eye. Months and years had passed that little by little were tearing their bonds apart.
He didn't want to put blames on anyone, it wouldn't make any difference. She kept thinking it was all her fault.

"A new beginning while we still have time."
New beginnings are only welcome when old endings have been long gone and theirs wasn't. She knew there was nothing left to be saved, but she still could not let go. Dead weight, they were dead weight to each other. A gangrene that would lead them to death and he would not let that happen.

"Goodbyes are for those who leave and I will always be around."
He said. She didn't believe him. She knew when he meant his words and this time he only said the things he thought she might want to listen. He wouldn't be around... and neither would she.
He reached for his cigarettes in his pocket.
The floor was wet. A few moments before he came into the room she had spilled something, but he didn't seem to care too much.
The packet had two cigarettes in it. He put one in his mouth and searched in his pocket for his lighter.

"Can I have the other one?"
"But you never smoke."
"Please?"

He smiled and offered her the other one.
He lit his and then turned to her. She looked at him in the eyes, holding the other cigarette between her fingers and took the lighter from his hand. Slowly she put the cigarette in her mouth, lit it and took a brave drag. Exhaling she dropped the lit lighter on the wet floor.
An orange sea of flames started arising all around them.

He looked at her and then at the fire that was slowly expanding all over the room. He said nothing, but he understood a lot. He just held her tight in his arms one more time.
"How about one last dance?"
With a smile full of pain on her face she nodded yes and pushed her body tightly onto his. Following his steps she danced... to the end of love.

A Greek song called Ο τελευταίος χορός - The last dance went on in youtube's autoplay, a favorite piece of my teenage years, a mellow break-up song I like. The lyrics talk about a couple who are about to break up, even though they don't want to and they just wish they could die before their last dance together ends. So, for some (obvious) reason these images were born in my head.

Aaah! That head feels really really tired and stressed out. That heads needs a break. I guess life wears you no matter how much beauty and happiness you find in little moments, spontaneous smiles and genuine hugs. I guess some brains need some time off. Some brains need to curl up in their little corner, listen to their favorite music and gaze at the ceiling for no reason, just like they used to do years and years ago.

Good night!
