Entry for @markrmorrisjr's WAPAT (W.rite A P.aragraph A.bout T.hat) Contest

Here is my paragraph for @markrmorrisjr's contest. Credit and ownership of the picture below belongs to him. I have only included for visual reference to accompany my paragraph.

Sam smiled as she scrambled to the top of the cliff overlooking the ocean. Her best friend, Eric, would never believe her if she managed to pull it off. It had been every child’s dream to get to the half finished abbey sitting on the island suspended above the ocean, but nobody knew how to traverse the space between land and sea. From where had it come? How long had it been there? What secrets did it hold? No adults seemed to know the answers, but Sam didn’t care. She knew the answers to all their questions lay on the land mass before her, and she was about to uncover all its secrets. She took the homemade grappling hook out of her backpack and took a deep breath as she prepared to launch the hook across the watery abyss. This was it. She pressed the button and watched the hook fly to the floating island. She watched it land and grab hold to the rocky ground, and with the next breath, away she flew.
