Arrow Season 6 Premiere: 'Fallout' Review

Waoh!
Great Scott!!
The season premiere of Arrow just blew me away! It was EXPLOSIVE! And I mean that both literally and figuratively. I actually lost count of how many explosions took place during the episode, but while we’ve come to expect such regularly from the series, the best thing about it was the way everything seemed to link back to the massive explosion on Lian Yu that ended last season. Throughout the episode, we can literally feel how that event has subtly but surely changed everything about Team Arrow and its members, even five months later. ‘Fallout’ was definitely an apt title!
Yes, the team is working more efficiently than ever –everyone knows their place and everyone’s super good at their part of the job. Or would be if not for the lingering, permeating feelings of guilt, loss and shock almost everyone seems to be carrying around, not-so-locked up inside. The production team did promise us a new feel and direction for the show and it does seem like they are delivering on that promise. This isn’t the learning, growing phase anymore. This is the real deal; everyone is ready and has perfectly blended their normal lives with their vigilante ones. They even have a doctor who knows them all!
The atmosphere of anticipation that went with this episode was so dense, I could barely breathe most of the time, especially whenever we went back to explore the aftermath of the Lian Yu explosions. And the thing is, so many questions are still left unanswered! Most prominently, are the daughters of Ra's al-Ghul, Talia and Nyssa, dead? And what about Artemis? And Thea! Oh, poor Thea! I have to say though, I was actually quite relieved when I saw her in a coma at the end of the episode –I was already counting her among the dead. But can she ever be Speedy again? That remains to be seen.

Also, the show seems to have totally fallen off the villain-of-the-week wagon. Black Siren’s actions this week raised much more questions than they answered, and at the end not only were the primary villains still up and kicking, but we also got a glimpse of a third, most likely the one pulling the strings. What seemed really weird was how Black Siren seemed to already know him. Could he be someone we’ve already met? And finally, the BIG reveal. Oliver Queen is the Green Arrow. Again. Except this time, I can’t see a way for him out of it. Could this be it? Is the Arrowverse about to know who the Star City vigilante really is. Guess we’ll have to wait till next week to find out!
In a fun aside, Felicity name-drops Sara as being MIA, so for followers of Legends of Tomorrow, we now know where Sara Lance was staying during her brief stay in present day Star City.
