RE: Not made for extreme conditions - Shipwreck Creative Writing Challenge
Woot. I love your take on this, doing the dramatic aftermath of survivalism, and working in the bits of the story prompt throughout. Well done!
I found it really interesting that I had all these facts about the characters, and the fact that she was a writer jumped out at me as an opportunity to do something interesting.
I also wanted to portray the feelings and general experience an average joe would have surviving (without getting too deep into the angsty bits). This average jane knew how to start a fire, make a spear and tell the time by the sun because she was a writer, which are supposed to be knowledgeable, but even so, survival takes a bit more than theory.
Thanks for reading, man! I'll be going around reading the rest as time allows. Steem on!
That's an interesting point; writers do have to kind of become experts in anything and everything they write about, or SOME EDITOR is going to call them on it. One wonders how useful that 'writing knowledge' and 'book knowledge' would actually be in a real life situation.
One wonders if it's kind of like calculus...you learn it and never use it again.
