It's always a revelation to see how many people feel trapped by their environment or surroundings, thinking themselves unable to change it. There may be some risk, but one always has the power to make changes.
True! Thanks for your comment, @negativer. While this isn’t a strictly auto-biographical story, it does stem from personal experience, and I agree with you 100% that one can always take a risk and break free. It is dismaying, however, how very hard it is for the abused to leave their abusers. Unfortunately I will probably be writing some aspect of this story, in various ways, all my life.
