What a gripping tale! I like how it's self-contained, yet has the potential for expansion. The use of the unicorn as a metaphor and it's ambiguous nature was also well done. I like how everything was resolved, yet somewhat feels like something's left hanging. I knew I didn't make a mistake when I chimed in that you should make more fiction!
