RE: The Playground Series: Reality in Fiction: Episode 9- Swear No Oaths

in #fiction8 years ago

Oh, wow, you really brought it with this one, my friend! What a way to head into a sabbatical. This chapter encapsulated all of the things that makes The Playground Series so great. The way you describe the action, the questions that you present the readers, and, most importantly, the chemistry between Kylah and Ijustam — it's all so wonderfully written. Finally, we discover her name, and I can't help but think of the similarities of the events of the reveal with my story Outwithye Olde, specifically when the protagonist is caught off-guard that the other character already knows his name along with a lot of things about him, while he knows next to nothing about the other person. I find the similarities and the subtle differences in execution very amusing.

I've always thought of monkey bars as one of the hardest equipments in a playground. You labor through every rung just to get to the destination. I have been waiting for you to use the monkey bars for quite some time, and I've been theorizing how you would go about with the analogy. It's interesting how you put it against contracts and loopholes, since there are a lot of ways you can get through the monkey bars — above, below, or my favorite nowadays, walking from one point to the other instead of forcing my arms to suffer unnecessary agony. There are tons of ways to dissect it, and I'm very impressed how you tackled it. The way you wrote the entire episode is so fitting for a story that's heading for a break.

I wish my lips were blistered. A blush crept up my neck.

I swear I felt giddy like a schoolgirl when I read this. Now that's a sign of great writing, when you make the reader feel emotions that they wouldn't otherwise have felt.

I will be missing this series a lot, but I am looking forward to Today Again! (Is it Today Again or Alive Again, I'm a little confused?)

Oh crap, thanks for pointing that out! Alive Again was one of the names I was considering for the title before I settled on Today Again! Fixed, haha.
Once again you grace with me such amazing compliment and also a fresh way for me to view my story! I get to see it through your eyes and it's magical!

Oh, hey, that's what the comments section is for! Encouragement, appreciation, and sometimes, correction. It's all good :) I'm glad that Today Again is the correct one, because I've just written up a scheduled post and have mentioned it. Oops! Spoiler alert!
