This was a good bridge to what happens next in the series. The new characters seem like a diverse bunch, and it would interesting to see how the dynamics would shift with their inclusion to the main story.
I'm not quite sure if you've had the chance to read my recent comments as you haven't replied to them, but I mentioned that the series seems like it's already going into a third book, as this arc feels like a second book for me. It's great to have this chapter as a bridge to that, as it gives a refreshing take to the series.
I wonder if they have any connection to Jared hmmm.. I can't wait to read what happens next. Great job, my friend!
Oh man, I'm sorry! Actually I did try to respond to your comments, but it was one of my bad internet nights, kept saying 'error, pausing to reconnect websocket" grr, that's so frustrating! Then I got distracted by the htooms/anniversary weekend. There were so many replies it was overwhelming, holy crap, keep that in mind if you ever get a chance to do it!
It's funny that you say that, because I also feel like this is going into part three, even though I don't call it that. A bridge chapter, that's a cool way to put it, I actually feel the next two chapters are an extension of that bridge as the new 'people' are introduced :)

Yeah haha It feels like your third arc is really a third book onto itself. These bridge chapters kind of act like a prologue to the next book. I'm surprised that you didn't consider dividing it that way.
