RE: Reborn: Chapter Fifty Four "Trapped"
This was certainly a weird one haha! Matthias has really been filling that asshole role in their group, and is somewhat like that spark that could cause the powderkeg to go boom. Too bad the chastity pain thing doesn't cover humans. If he wanted to, he could have his way with all the females except for Anna. Says a lot about how he's keeping it all bottled up, and just teasing a kiss.
The weird one for me here is how Anna just leaves. Sure, I get that she doesn't want to make enemies since the others are just temporary residents while she's staying with the men for the foreseeable future. What would've happened if Matthias had ill intentions for Jenna. What was stopping him from doing so? Incurring the wrath of the group? Is he just inherently naughty and doesn't really have ill intentions? How come Anna trusts them this much? And, why is Jenna just that way after an admittedly traumatic encounter? Is it because she does in fact like Matthias back? So many questions, and to think this was a dialogue-heavy chapter. That's the power of your writing, my friend!
Lots of great questions, lol. I can answer the one about her safety though...Anna can hear everything that's happening wherever she is in the house remember, so she would know if she needed to call for Michael and she could return in a blink.
They also happen to be one of the only groups of vampires still fighting demons for humans, so that would factor into the trust ;)
Been a busy week here, holiday and all. Trying to jump on steemit here and there, just happened to be catching up on Paul's stuff when I saw your comment come in :)
With that thought though, wouldn't Michael hear it as well? I mean, he wouldn't need a middleman for it, right? Even though they're fighting on the side of humans, that doesn't necessarily mean that they don't have a superiority complex over them, right? There are people who are "good", in the classical sense, but have evil tendencies beyond the surface. So, it's hard to just generalize the group because of their collective agenda.
He could hear it if he were listening for it, they have to focus for that.
Leo and the faerian hunters they work with call them friends, they trust them. But sure, there are possibilities, and they are individuals ;)
Ah! That makes sense. I'm glad you have that covered :) Still though, I really don't trust a lot of them, and maybe it's just personal preference but I still haven't made a "protagonist-reader" connection with them, not unlike the Winchest, er, McClaron boys.
It makes sense that you haven't since I have not focused on them a great deal yet. I pulled them into the story now in large part to place Anna where she is, though they are important in the series and there will be a lot more focus on them individually as the story progresses :)
