Celeste stopped in the parking area just before two. She felt super-anxious and she was no longer sure about her decision. All in all nothing from the last two days made any sense to her and she needed to talk to someone. She sat in the waiting room with two other ladies and they were chatting about their experiences during their pregnancies.

"How far along are you?" the one lady asked and Celeste was so distracted that she did not hear her.

"Are you okay, you look a little pale?" The other lady said, and Celeste realized that they were talking to her.

"I'm fine" she said.  "I just feel a little lightheaded."

"We don't mind waiting. Perhaps you should go in to see Doctor first."

The other lady agreed and when the receptionist called one of their names, they told her that Celeste should go in first. Fred opened his office door and smiled when he saw that it was Celeste.

Celeste nodded thankfully at the two ladies, and got up to walk into Fred's office.  She suddenly felt worse than before and only took three steps before collapsing in Fred's arms.

She woke up a few seconds later.  Fred looked a little worried, but he was used to these kind of things happening in his office.  Celeste apologized, but Fred just smiled and told her not to worry.

"What did Frank say about the baby?" he asked and she blushed.

"I haven't told him yet. I'm not sure if I can do this Fred.....  I'm not cut out for this."

Celeste started crying and it felt as if the world was on top of her shoulders.

"I'm lost and I don't know how to get out of this situation."

"If you are saying what I think you're saying....then you will have to find a new doctor.  I refuse to do an abortion on a healthy baby.

There are plenty of people out there who would kill to be in your position. You need time to adjust, and you need to tell Frank as soon as possible.  He will give you the emotional support that you need."

Frank was adamant.

"I want to do an ultrasound to check if everything is fine. Then I want you to go home and tell Frank. You still have plenty of time left to make a final decision. You do realize that Frank also has a say in all of this?  It is after all his baby too?"

Celeste suddenly felt very selfish and did not answer him. She reluctantly lifted her top so that Fred could do the ultrasound. The soft gel was cold on her stomach and she shrieked. She put her one arm behind her head and watched the screen to see if she could see anything. She couldn't make head or tails from the whole picture.

During the whole ultrasound Fred did not say a word. He just nodded and it looked like he was taking measurements of some kind.  She knew he was angry with her. Celeste tried to look interested but she really had no idea what was going on.  Fred turned up the volume and told her:

"Can you hear that?"

She heard a soft beating sound but had no clue what it was.

"That my dear Celeste, is the sound of a baby's heartbeat...."

Celeste instinctively felt connected to the baby and within seconds changed her whole attitude. She couldn't believe what she heard and it was the most beautiful sound in the world.

She suddenly felt very ashamed about her earlier thoughts and asked.  "Is everything okay with the baby?"

Fred smiled at her and realized that she had changed her mind. The ultrasound usually does the trick.

"Everything is just fine, but I'm glad you're lying down"

"Why...what is the matter Fred?"

"Nothing is the matter silly...it was just not what I expected.....congratulations mommy..... You're having twins."
