#74: Barge

The economy of River City began to improve. Technology advanced. Moore's law continued to not be broken. The internet grew like yeast.

Shelby and Elvira decided to move onto a barge.

Shelby wasn’t all that happy with all the new people moving into the old factory with him. He liked his privacy. What’s more he had been evicted once. He didn’t see any reason to allow that to happen again. In order to prevent it should the danger ever arise he’d decided to find a home that was mobile. The abandoned factory building was adjacent to a river. Some time earlier he’d noticed that there were a number of barges tied up along the shore. He sent Elvira to investigate the barges.

He could see through her eyes. He saw as well as she did that half the barges were now occupied.

That gave him an idea. If other people could live on the water then so could he. He had Structural Smoke though, that gave him an advantage. He didn’t need anywhere near as much room as other people. He decided to build has own boat...right there in the shop.

It wasn’t hard. It took him but a few minutes to conjure it from Structural Smoke. On the outside it looked like a small Trilobyte type ShantyBoat. It was actually based on the SlackTide.
